Story 1
"My name is Maureen Young Supaul, and I’m 44 years old today. I’m a proud mother of three beautiful kids who are now 18, 20 and 26. I migrated to the United States 26 years ago as a student to pursue one of my dreams, which was to become a nurse and a business owner and open an orphanage. But on 12/11/2001, all of that had changed when I gave birth to my first-born son, Owen Arnold. Two years later, I gave birth to my other son Ormanie Arnold. If I’m honest, back then, I saw it as a burden, but I slowly started to recognize that God had a bigger plan. As time went on, my relationship with the father of my boys was unhealthy and I knew I wanted a better life for myself and my children. Their father was one of that city’s biggest drug dealers and so I eventually escaped from that relationship and moved to California. But there I was, with a two-year-old son, six months pregnant and homeless since we were not able to stay any longer with a family member. Eventually, I found a place for homeless mothers and children, which I was so happy and fortunate to have been accepted in. They introduced us to Precious Lamb- which I now consider my second family. Owen was the first to attend and I was so nervous because I knew how much of a handful he could be. He was an extremely angry child and he used to fight a lot, to the point one of the teachers was even bitten and bruised from him fighting back. But the teachers always met him with grace and patience. They continuously worked with him daily and welcomed him with a big hug when I would drop him off in the morning.
It was a lot of work but they never gave up on him. Eventually, he started learning about Jesus, and day by day, I started to see a change in him. He would be singing a lot of the songs they taught him at school and he always wanted to say his prayers before bed or at the dinner table. Owen developed such a habit of praying that one day he said, “Mom, I’m a pastor.” With that big sunflower smile, he would even pretend with friends after school that he was preaching, or after church, he’d run to the pulpit. Ever since Precious Lamb introduced Owen to Christ, I gradually saw a huge change in Owen’s behavior day by day. Eventually, his younger brother Ormanie started attending PL too, and the same love and teaching of Jesus was given to him. It was a very sad day with lots of tears when they graduated because of our strong relationships with all the staff.
I can honestly say PL helped change both of my sons’s lives from a biblical standpoint and behavioral perspective. Today, I can proudly say I have two amazing young men who love God and are good citizens of society. They were both honor students, and Owen is now 20 years of age and in his second year of college, studying to become a veterinarian. Ormanie is now 18 on a full football scholarship at Idaho University pursuing a professional career and studying Kinesiology. I’m married to an amazing husband and working at a recuperating care center for homeless people who come out of the hospital and have nowhere to go. I’m now in a place to give back that love and caring which was given to me. I’m extremely grateful to the entire staff there. They are the best. Thank you PL a million times!"
