Story 12
My journey at Precious Lamb started when I was in a sober living and in need of daycare for my daughter. I had 2 years sober from heroin and meth, and I wanted to get my life in order. I had always dreamed of going back to school and finishing my AA degree. My friends at the sober living suggested Precious Lamb because it was free to people who were considered homeless. I was struggling financially and was not able to afford my own place, let alone the cost of daycare. I did not have any friends or family who could help to watch my daughter. Luckily, Precious Lamb had a spot open for my daughter, and as soon as she turned 18 months old, she started daycare.
This support was great for me because I could finally go back to school and have the time to study. I worked hard, and I ended up graduating from LBCC with a 3.926 GPA. Afterwards, I transferred to Cal State University. My daughter will never forget the teachers and the friends that she made at Precious Lamb. The teachers genuinely cared for her and embraced her incredibly unique personality. This helped her to learn and grow. She stayed at Precious Lamb all the way till graduation, and now she is in kindergarten.
My other daughter also attended Precious Lamb for some time, and I could tell with both of them how much they were learning when they were there. Their language and motor skills drastically improved. My daughter who is in kindergarten was more than ready and is excelling in writing letters and numbers, which she learned at Precious Lamb. My husband and I moved with the kids to Arizona, and we bought our first house. We went from being homeless to having our own apartment, and now we are homeowners. There is no way we could have made it this far without Precious Lamb’s help. I am also close to getting my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from ASU. I plan to help others the way they helped me when I needed it the most.
