Story 18
It was June of 2020 and I had been working at a different pre-school in Huntington Beach. I was unhappy there and with the long commute from Long Beach, I was looking for a new job somewhere closer to home. I found out about Precious Lamb and reached out to Lailanie to see if there was an opening. Unfortunately, at the height of the pandemic the school had to temporarily shut down and hiring had to take a pause. Not only did Lailanie call me shortly thereafter, but once the school opened up, she was empathetic to my situation and also allowed me to enroll my daughter, Mya. Once I started, I fell in love with the mission and got to also witness my daughter flourish within the program. With the help of Precious Lamb’s flexibility, I was able to get a dual AA in both Early Childhood Education and Administration of Justice. I recently completed my teacher’s permit and have implemented both the parent volunteer hour and enrichment activity programs within our organization. After two years of working at Precious Lamb, I’ve recently been given an opportunity to work with similar families for Head Start. Because of my experience here I feel well equipped to step into my new role. Even though this has caused me great pain to leave, I’m so grateful for my time here. I wish there was a Precious Lamb Preschool when I was growing up, so I’ll continue to do what I can to serve the most vulnerable children and families in our community.
